On the plot level, this album is about a man and a woman's experiences of love, first individually then as husband and wife.

The man believed his bachelor life of thought was enough for him until a woman burst into his life.  But his realization of being terribly alone was immediately followed by this woman walking back out of his life.

The woman thought she had found love, but the man to whom she gave her heart used her then tossed her aside.  She moved to another city to put the memory far behind her.

The man watched the woman who had awakened him to love marry another man he was sure would break her heart.

After a time, when the woman thought of her former love, she was saddened to see that the flame of her former passion had burned itself to ashes so cold they were no longer even painful.

Then the man and the woman met, and married.

The husband stayed faithful as part of the expression of his love.

The wife focused her desire on her husband.  Given her past experiences, it was not easy to trust enough to thus make herself vulnerable to him.

The couple see their vulnerability to each other as a real expression of love.

The husband is deeply moved watching the sonogram of their child.

The wife's emotional healing began when she retraced her steps to find the simple joy and wonder in life she had discarded long ago in an attempt to make herself worthy of being loved.

For the couple, the anticipation of the birth of their child is a mystic time.

The person we marry should also be our friend, but too often this fails to happen.
