The questions at midnight emerge from the gloom,
Demanding the Face beyond calculus runes.
Despair is a pit for which few find the rope
From those who still dare look for love and to hope.

The lunatic rush to a future unknown
Abandons foundations to go it alone.
The hollow husk men show their tombs off with pride,
"We never were living so we never died."

Through the noise of heavy traffic
You can hear the sad old song
Underneath the code of silence -
Where do I belong?

"Religion's afraid of what science achieves.
Their warnings of danger are simply naive.
No fictions are found in The Method's array.
It's time you acknowledge there's no other way."

In a land where truth is power,
And the right is what is strong,
Who will dare to voice their weakness -
Where do I belong?

The herd is assembled around a lab coat.
Permission is granted to buy what he wrote.
Rejecting such counsel will put out your light.
His many mistakes are now proof that he's right.

No one wants to stick their head out.
It is safe amidst the throng.
Yet the hive avoids the question -
Where do I belong?

Since nothing remains worth the name of a soul
The people make do with material goals.
Technology traps wait beneath what appears
But science will save us from credulous fears.

In the babble over baubles
And the squabbles for the wrong,
The question rarely voiced is
Where do I belong?

Deposits are stripped off the little we know.
The bank of our culture is drifting like snow.
Erosion of meaning begins to withdraw
The interest we held in exposing our flaw.

See the rootless starving people
On the banks of Babylon
Whose eyes alone are asking
Where do I belong?
