Song 3 - Eye in the Sky

© 2007, Roy Stucky and Mike Vogt

Red China shot a missile into space,
Destroyed a satellite to start a race.
To demonstrate their aim to take the throne,
The stars became a demolition zone.

Poke out the eye in the sky.
Can you explain just why
You felt the need to
Poke out the eye in the sky?
What do you want to deny?
Satellite feed
Into ancient greed
That's clearly afraid it will die.
So poke out the eye in the sky.

It's clear Red China labels us a foe.
They take enormous pains to let us know.
Intimidation serves as war done cheap -
Dividing us from nations tending sheep.

Poke out the eye in the sky.
Can you explain just why
You felt the need to
Poke out the eye in the sky?
What do you want to deny?
Satellite feed
Into ancient greed
That's clearly afraid it will die.
So poke out the eye in the sky.

DESCRIPTION

Red China shot down an obsolete satellite. The only reason that makes any sense is that they did it to demonstrate the capability. Then protest when the U.S.A. shot down a recent satellite that was malfunctioning, and thus threatening to spray its toxic fuel. The U.S.A. is the only nation that would see attacks on satellites as a serious threat simply because the U.S.A. is the nation most heavily dependent upon satellites. So there can be little doubt toward whom the demonstration was aimed.

Does anyone remember how Red China shot missiles over Taiwan? Does that not sound a bit familiar?
