Feast in a rented room upstairs
Treason and sorrow in the air.
Christ tried to nourish their blind eyes -
Loaf without leaven soon to rise.

After the broken bread and wine,
Last chance to taste fruit of the vine,
Men would soon come with sticks and staves -
Take Him to fill a borrowed grave.

Servant heart though King of kings,
He faced the stinging Roman tree.
Jesus chose that time to sing
A Song Before Gethsemane.

God is a fire no king can kill,
Chains can't enforce their iron will.
Facing the stroke of pen and sword,
Lift up my voice to Heaven's Lord.

He knew what was waiting outside of that room -
The hardest road ever to lead to a tomb.
We need prayer and praise to endure what we know
When even the Master would've let the cup go.

Servant heart though King of kings,
He faced the stinging Roman tree.
Jesus chose that time to sing
A Song Before Gethsemane.
