Hand Upon the Water
© 2000, Roy Stucky

Close to the surface
But hidden away.
Thoughts set in order
Have gone astray.

Life's no equation
For logic to solve.
Man is no master
Where Truth is involved.

Lay a hand upon the water.
Feel it flow back to the sea.
Greater depths are held within you
Than floating children can perceive.

Flashing the pictures that mock what's inside you,
The box would reduce you to lust.
Tangled in threads from the least common heads -
Are you dirt falling back into dust?

Who will you trust?

Lay a hand upon the water.
Bend the surface to your need.
Greater life is held within you
Than your mouth can ever feed.
