I'm pushing at the borders that confine me
I'm shining all my light against the dark.
The mists that wrap a maelstrom around me
Declare there is a need to leave a mark.
I walk and I fly
I talk and I think
My life asks why
And the cosmos winks.
We are heart to heart
Soul to soul
But it's the Spirit Who makes us whole.
Why's my light composed of so much darkness?
Why the more I learn the more I owe?
Know that as my gaze sweeps ever further
Wisdom tastes what vision cannot show.
I am alone
But not removed
I feel like stone
That cannot choose to learn to run.
Tension swirl of the currents running through my head
Leaves me giddy at the thoughts and the words I've read.
If I see should I speak to those who'll come this way
So they'll know they're not alone because on this day
Another stood asking why it took so long to reach this place?
Or is it all in vain?
Does anyone gain from the wounds of those who came before?
Or must we all cut our hands groping for the same old door?
I look into your eyes without surprise
'Cause all I think to see is me.
The weight of my decision presses down on me -
And it's real.
I choose among the pathways spread ahead of me -
And I feel.
If I kept it all potential there would be no loss
But the highest cost
Would be having nothing anyone could steal.
We make contact and it thrills me like a lightning bolt,
Like a dancing colt discovering the wind.
