|Song 8||QUOTES - Finest Hour|
"He shall spurn fate, scorn death,
and bear his hope ‘bove wisdom, grace and fear: and you all know, security
is mortal's chiefest enemy."
"In the latter time of their kingdom,
when the transgressors are fully established, a king of fierce countenance,
understanding dark sentences, will stand up. His power will be mighty,
but not by his own power. He will destroy wonderfully, and prosper
and practice, and will destroy the mighty and holy people. Through
his policy he will cause craft to prosper in his hand. He will magnify
himself in his heart and by peace destroy many. He will also stand
up again the Prince of princes, but he will be broken without hand."
"Then in his place will stand up a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom, but he will be destroyed in few days, neither in anger nor in battle. In his place a vile person will stand up to whom they will not give the honor of the kingdom. Yet he will come in peaceably and obtain the kingdom (of the north) by flatteries."
"With the arms of a flood they will be swept before him and broken. Yes, even the prince of the covenant. After an alliance is made with him, he will work deceitfully. He will come up and become strong with a small people. He will enter peacefully even into the richest places of the land, and will do what none of his forebearers has done. He will lavish upon them prey and spoil and riches, and plot against even the strongholds for a time."
"He will stir up his power and courage against the king of the south with a great army. The king of the south will respond with a very great and mighty army, but will not stand because of the plots devised against him. He will be destroyed by those close to him. His army will be swept away with great casualties. Both these kings will be bent on evil, and will speak lies at the same table, but it will not succeed. The end will still be at the time appointed."
"Returning with great riches, the vile king's heart will be moved against the holy covenant to wreak damage as he returns to his own land. At the appointed time he will again go south, but this move will not be like it was before, or will be after, because ships from the western lands will come against him. He will withdraw enraged against the holy covenant, and gather intelligence from those who betray it. Then he will succeed by force of arms in taking the sanctuary. They will end the daily sacrifice and replace it with an abomination of desolation."
"The wicked who betray the holy covenant will be corrupted by his flattery, but those who know their God will be strong and carry out great exploits. Those of understanding will teach multitudes, but for many days they will fall by sword and flame, captivity and plunder. When they fall they will be given a little help, but many will join them to intrigue. Some of the understanding will fall to try them, to purify them, to make them white until the time of the end, which will still be at the time appointed."
"The vile king will do whatever he desires. He will set himself up above all gods, and blaspheme the God of gods with success until he has filled out the wrath appointed to him. He will not regard any god of his fathers, nor desire any woman, but will exalt himself as being higher than everything. In place of the gods he will honor a god of forces with gold and silver and jewels, a god his fathers never knew. In the strongest places he will traffic with this strange god which he will glorify and cause to rule over many, and will divide the land for gain."
"At the time of the end the king of the south will betray the vile king, who will come against him like a great storm with chariots, horsemen, and many ships, and will overwhelm the countries. He will also enter the Glorious Land, but Edom, Moab, and the chief people of Ammon will escape his hand. He will stretch out his hand against the nations, and Egypt will not escape him. He will have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt. The Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels."
"But he will be disturbed at news from the east and the north, and will go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. He will plant his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain, yet he will come to his end and no one will help him."
"At that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people, and there will be a time of trouble such as there has never been. At that time every one of your people who is written in the book will be delivered. Many of those who sleep in the dust will awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the firmament, those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever."
"But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book even to the time
of the end. Many will run to and fro, and knowledge will increase."
"My dream, a bold sailor, half-ship, half-hurricane, silent as the butterfly,
impatient as the falcon: how had it the patience and leisure to-day
Did my wisdom
perhaps speak secretly to it, my laughing, wide-awake day-wisdom, which
mocketh at all "infinite worlds"? For it saith: "Where
is, there becometh NUMBER the master: it hath more force."
How confidently did my dream contemplate this finite world, not new-fangledly,
not old-fangledly, not timidly, not entreatingly:--
How I thank my morning-dream that I thus at to-day's dawn, weighed the world! As a humanly good thing did it come unto me, this dream and heart-comforter! And that I may do the like by day, and imitate and copy its best, now will I put the three worst things on the scales, and weigh them humanly well.-- He who taught to bless taught also to curse: what are the three best cursed things in the world? These will I put on the scales."
"VOLUPTUOUSNESS, PASSION FOR POWER, and SELFISHNESS: these three
things have hitherto been best cursed, and have been in worst and falsest
repute--these three things will I weigh humanly well.
Voluptuousness: to the rabble, the slow fire at which it is burnt; to all wormy wood, to all stinking rags, the prepared heat and stew furnace.
Passion for power: the glowing scourge of the hardest of the heart-hard; the cruel torture reserved for the cruellest themselves; the gloomy flame of living pyres. Passion for power: the wicked gadfly which is mounted on the vainest peoples; the scorner of all uncertain virtue; which rideth on every horse and on every pride. Passion for power: the earthquake which breaketh and upbreaketh all that is rotten and hollow; the rolling, rumbling, punitive demolisher of whited sepulchres; the flashing interrogative-sign beside premature answers. Passion for power: before whose glance man creepeth and croucheth and drudgeth, and becometh lower than the serpent and the swine:--until at last great contempt crieth out of him--, Passion for power: the terrible teacher of great contempt, which preacheth to their face to cities and empires: "Away with thee!"--until a voice crieth out of themselves: "Away with ME!"
And then it happened also,--and verily, it happened for the first time!-- that his word blessed SELFISHNESS, the wholesome, healthy selfishness, that springeth from the powerful soul:--
With its words of good and bad doth such self-enjoyment shelter itself as with sacred groves; with the names of its happiness doth it banish from itself everything contemptible.
Whether they be servile before Gods and divine spurnings, or before men and stupid human opinions: at ALL kinds of slaves doth it spit, this blessed selfishness!"
"Bad: thus doth it call all that is spirit-broken, and sordidly-servile-- constrained, blinking eyes, depressed hearts, and the false submissive style, which kisseth with broad cowardly lips. And spurious wisdom: so doth it call all the wit that slaves, and hoary-headed and weary ones affect; and especially all the cunning, spurious-witted, curious-witted foolishness of priests! The spurious wise, however, all the priests, the world-weary, and those whose souls are of feminine and servile nature--oh, how hath their game all along abused selfishness! And precisely THAT was to be virtue and was to be called virtue--to abuse selfishness! And "selfless"-- so did they wish themselves with good reason, all those world-weary cowards and cross-spiders!"
"But to all those cometh now the day, the change, the sword of judgment, THE GREAT NOONTIDE: then shall many things be revealed! And he who proclaimeth the EGO wholesome and holy, and selfishness blessed, verily, he, the prognosticator, speaketh also what he knoweth: "BEHOLD, IT COMETH, IT IS NIGH, THE GREAT NOONTIDE!"
"Thus spake Zarathustra."
"Man is evil--so said to me for consolation, all the wisest ones. Ah, if only it be still true to-day! For the evil is man's best force."
"Man must become better and eviler--so do I teach. The
evilest is necessary for the Superman's best."
"Can two walk together except they be agreed?"
"Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted, and will kill you. You will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. Many will be offended, and betray one another, and hate one another. Many false prophets will rise and deceive multitudes. Because iniquity will abound, the love of many will grow cold, but he that endures to the end will be saved. This gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, and then the end will come."
"When you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet stand in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those in Judea flee into the mountains. Let him on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house. Let him in the field not return back to get his clothes. Woe to the pregnant and nursing in those days! Pray your flight is not in the winter or on the sabbath day, for this will be a time of great tribulation such as has not ever been, nor will ever be again. Except those days should be shortened, no flesh would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened."
"If anyone tells you Christ is here or there, do not believe it. There will arise false Christs and false prophets, and will show great signs and wonders, so much so that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the very elect. Take note. I have told you beforehand. So if they tell you Christ is in the desert, do not go. If they tell you he is in the secret chamber, do not believe it. For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather together."
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give her light. The stars will fall from heaven
as the powers of heaven are shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man
will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the Earth will mourn.
They will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power
and great glory. He will send his angels with a loud trumpet sound,
and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven
to the other."
"The Son of Man is like
a man taking a far journey who left his house under the authority of his
servants, giving every man his work and commanding the porter to watch.
Watch. You do not know when the master of the house will return,
at evening or midnight or morning, lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping.
And what I say to you I say to all. Watch."
The wise fools of this world mock Jesus' return because they have not seen it with their eyes, their having no faith in His word, their vain understanding being darkened. Will we too behave as if our Master had not promised to return?
"And this is the
condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness
rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does
evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should
be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds
may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
"For when they say, 'Peace and safety', then sudden destruction comes upon
them as travail upon a woman with child, and they will not escape."
I Thessalonians 5:3
Listen to the world and note how often the slogan of peace and safety is repeated. The hearts of the lost are being prepared to accept this phrase from the Beast.
"It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong."
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day will not come except there first come a falling away, and that man of sin be revealed. He is the son of perdition who opposes and exaults himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."
"Don't you remember I told you these things when I was with you? And now you know what prevents him from being revealed until his appointed time. For the mystery of iniquity is already at work: only he who now restrains will continue to do so until he is taken out of the way."
"Then that Wicked will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with
the spirit of His mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of His coming.
This is he whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders, and with all the deceit of evil against those
who perish. They do not receive the love of the Truth, that they
might be saved. Because of this, God will send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie, that they might all be damned who reject
Truth but have pleasure in evil."
II Thessalonians 2:2-12
Again, the Beast naming himself God in the temple, and the lost being deceived.
"I stood upon the sand of the sea and saw a beast rise out of the sea that had seven heads and ten horns. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads the name of blasphemy. The beast I saw was like a leopard, with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power and seat and great authority."
"I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death, and his deadly wound was healed. All the world was awestruck by the beast, and worshipped the dragon which gave power to the beast. They also worshipped the beast, saying, 'Who is like the beast? Who can make war with him?' "
"A mouth was given to him, speaking great blasphemies, and power to continue forty two months. He opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name and Tabernacle and those who dwell in Heaven. It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Power was given him over all kindreds and tongues and nations. All those that dwell upon the Earth whose names are not written in the book of life of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world will worship him."
"If any man has an ear, let him hear. He that leads into captivity will go into captivity. He that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and faith of the saints."
"I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, and spoke like a dragon, and exercised all the power of the first beast before him, and caused the Earth's inhabitants to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed."
"He does great wonders, such as making fire come down from heaven in the sight of men, and deceives the inhabitants of the Earth by means of the miracles he had power to do in the sight of the beast, telling them they should make an image to the beast which had the wound by a sword, and did live. He had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. He caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads, and that no one could buy or sell unless he had that mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
"Here is wisdom. Let he with understanding count the number of
the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred,
three score, and six."
"Be mindful of the words spoken by the holy prophets and the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing first that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? Since our fathers fell asleep until now all things continue as they have since from the beginning of creation.' "
"They deliberately forget that by the Word of God the heavens were of old and the earth stood out of water and in the water, and that by that same Word of God the world that then existed perished in the Flood. The present heavens and Earth are kept in store by that same Word, reserved against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
"Beloved, do not forget one day is as a thousand years with the Lord, and a thousand years as one day. God is not slack regarding His promise, as some count slackness, but is patient with us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
"The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat. Both the Earth and the works in it will be burned up. Seeing that all these things are going to be dissolved, what kind of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will ignite and dissolve, and the elements melt with a fervent heat?"
"We look according to His promise for new heavens and a new Earth in which Righteousness dwells. Beloved, look forward to these things and be diligent to be found without spot and blameless, seeing that the patience of God is salvation."
"Our brother Paul has also written to you of these things according to the wisdom given to him. In all his letters he speaks of these things, some of which are hard to understand and which uneducated and unstable people twist, as they do with the rest of the Scripture, to their own destruction."
"Beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you too fall from
your own steadfastness and be led away with the error of the wicked.
Rather, grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen."
II Peter 3:2-18
I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, 'Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. God will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death nor sorrow nor crying, nor any more pain, for the former things are passed away.'
He who sat upon the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new.'
He said to me, 'Write - for these words are true and faithful.'
He said to me, 'It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning
and the End. I will freely give to him that is thirsty of the fountain
of the Water of Life.' "
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled."
" 'You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You have been in Eden, the garden of God. From the day you were created, every jewel was your covering, from the diamond, topaz and onyx to the jasper, sapphire, and emerald, all set in wrought gold. I created you as the annointed cherubim who covers. You were on the holy mountains of God. You have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, until iniquity was found in you."
"The multitude of your gifts filled your heart with violence, and you
sinned. So I will destroy you, covering cherubim, from the midst
of the stones of fire. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty.
You corrupted your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast
you to the ground. I will lay you before kings, that they may stare
at you. You defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities,
by the iniquity of your dealings. I will bring forth a fire from
the midst of you, and it will devour you. I will bring you to ashes
on the Earth in the sight of everyone. Everyone who knows you will
be astonished at you. You will be a terror, and never will you be
any more.' "
The foundations of the New Jerusalem being jewels ties to Lucifer's covering, which he lost, and to the mountains of the stones of fire, from which he was banished.
a loud voice in Heaven crying, 'Now salvation and strength and the Kingdom
of our God and the power of His Christ has come, for the accuser of our
bretheren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast
down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of
their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Therefore rejoice, heavens and you who dwell in them! Woe to the
inhabitants of the Earth and sea! For the devil has come down to
you in great wrath, knowing he has but a short time.' "
"That very hour, the fingers of a man's hand appeared, writing on the plaster of the royal palace opposite the lampstand...."
"This is the inscription: Mene, Tekel, Peres. The meaning
of it is: Mene, numbered. God has numbered the days of your kingdom,
and ended it. Tekel, weighed. You are weighed in the scales
and found wanting. Peres, divided. Your kingdom is divided
up and assigned to the Medes and the Persians."
Daniel 5:5, 25-28
"Thomas, you believe because you have seen.
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."
can change the world when the world is as networked as it is."
