Head Lines
© May 6, 2006, Roy Stucky

A modern man's vow comes out already broken.
Magnesium candles transfigured the birthday.
The dean thought esteem could be bought for a token.
Some governor posed in a hat by the freeway.

Head lines.
Odd times.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

The black become white board at once began blinking.
A miser was struck in a pot metal minting.
One monitor stuck in the hall fell to thinking.
The Truth had no news that the press would be printing.

Head lines.
Odd times.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

The quiet man learned how to swing from the rafter.
An addict's desire filled his mind like a vapor.
The hooded man's cape provoked gallons of laughter.
Our promise of freedom just lies on the paper.

Head lines.
Odd times.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

A publican's praises were found hard to swallow.
The sunshine detective emerged from the grotto.
All graves of the great like the poor turn out hollow.
The vain say their name like an ad chants its motto.

Head lines.
Near rhymes.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

Rattan colored pistols were cocked at an angle.
The calls for the lions continue to rankle.
The history books got their facts in a tangle.
A despot was hung like a cow by the ankle.

Head lines.
Near rhymes.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

An ape dragging uncle evaded the screening.
The secret police were arrested for dreaming.
A brain nearly new was subjected to cleaning.
The silent assassin was carried out screaming.

Head lines.
Odd times.
Head lines
Are binding thoughts to shrines.
Head lines.

There's a door made of glass but I can't see through it.
A tree that was bent is now covered in flowers.
A man with grey hair shakes his fist at a shadow.
A white picket fence is neglected and rotten.
A car of black steel met an angry grey oak tree.
A rabbit embolden laid siege to a kennel.
A sickle encountered considered resistance.
The ash from a poem that was burned began dancing.
The chains on a gate against children were rusted.
The arms of a garden enticed a young driver.
The sign on the wall declared Jesus illegal.
The horse ran away with the son of a banker.
A claw ripped apart the abandoned blue nursery.
A frosted white elk disappeared in the vapor.
The flames of the treaty have long been extinguished.
The tube of green paper assaulted the neighbors.
The road curved around the delinquent surveyor.
The wind gave a voice to the telephone cable.
The whiskey she wasted discolored the table.
A finger stained blue was extended defiant.
A ticket was bought to a show that was canceled.
An ax was exchanged for a lantern and candle.
A blanket concealed what the sweater unraveled.
The rock in the field was considered well traveled.
A woman in love had no fear of her labor.
The sun in the room didn't come though a window.
The tracks on the lawn lay in parallel slats.
A rattle was silently waiting for fingers.
The prisoner swallowed the lie laid before him.
A lizard escaped from a glass sided package.
The boys fired shotguns at scattering rats.
The coat on the sofa was found on the floor.
I think that it's time that I didn't say more.
